Class Description

Hatha yoga has principles rooted in ancient yogic philosophy and practice. Hatha means "sun" (ha) and "moon" (tha), symbolizing the balance between opposing forces. In Hatha yoga, you seek balance between strength and flexibility, effort and surrender, and other dualities. This balance extends beyond the physical realm to mental and emotional. In Hatha yoga, postures are often held for several breaths or longer, allowing you to deepen the stretch, build strength, and focus on your breath. After holding a pose, you'll typically release and rest briefly before moving on to the next. Alignment is key to prevent injury and make the most of each asana. Hatha yoga pays careful attention to correct alignment of the body during postures. This helps to create a strong foundation and develop awareness of your body while fostering a deep connection between the mind and body. It encourages you to be present in the moment, using your breath and awareness to enhance the postures. This union of body and mind is central to the practice.Throughout the class, the instructor provides guidance, emphasizing safety and encouraging you to listen to your body. Hatha yoga is known for its adaptable nature, making it accessible to practitioners of various skill levels.
